“…whatever is pure…whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence…think about these things…And the God of peace will be with you.” (curtailed version of Philippians 4:8-9, ESV)
Rob Lacey penned the same verses above – oh so very well – in his paraphrase of the Bible (which he originally titled The Street Bible)
“…stack up your deep places with purity…fill your imagination with excellence…work it into your lifestyle, and the God of serenity will hang around you.” (Philippians 4:8-9)
- It’s the reason we do what we do at Pure Media Family.
- It’s why we offer a Pure Choice of music, on our global Christian radio station: music moves the soul and that’s a pretty “deep place”.
- It’s why we offer a Pure Choice through the written word, in our high quality magazine: that definitely meets “filling your imagination with excellence”.
- It’s why we never differentiate the music we play – it’s music and we love it, whether written by an artist who might identify as a Christian, or might not. I love Nirvana and Sarah Reeves lots – both are utterly awesome at what they have produced in wildly different genres. Both sounds bring a smile to my face.

We pursue both purity and excellence in all we do – my team of fantastic writers and talented presenters are amazing on their own. But, as a team? What a pool of immense talent!!!!!!!!!!
I still frequently pinch myself that we’ve gathered all these amazing people to do this. It baffles me and humbles in equal measure. They rallied behind what we know God called us do to – to make a difference in the world and be a force of good; to be a force for good; to make a difference.

If you’ve read this far, yes, it’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m feeling pretty reflective today, in a good way.
It’s always good to look back – to know where you’ve come from, so you can continue moving forwards. We ignore our past at our peril…whether good or bad, it defines who we are and that affects who we will become.
I never thought I’d be turning 48 [tomorrow] while living exclusively by faith with my family, working full-time next to my wife who supports me as my PA.
Seasons come and go and that’s a good thing!

In the comparison image above I didn’t intend to ever try and compare them…but this is the same field, months apart.
Seasons of life come and go and that really is ok!
Various people have asked me how that living by faith thing actually works in practice. I can provide no simple answer – God just does what God does and “He frustrates the intelligence of the intelligent” is a verse that helps me understand, when I just don’t understand.
How did Noah build an ark? I don’t know – and he probably didn’t either. I just know that he did and probably wondered how it came together as it did.
We’re reaching up to 5,000 people each month with Pure Media (radio content and the magazine) all around the world (50 + nations so far I think). That’s cool. Of course it is!. But, more than that, making one person relax, knowing that they can listen to a radio station that won’t jolt their brain, and read a magazine that won’t melt their eyes, is the thing I’m most proud of.

This beautiful red poppy stands virtually alone in a sea of beige wheat, stretching as far as the eye can see. It isn’t really making much of an impact on it’s surroundings, at all. But, it does stand out and it is making a difference. It makes the world a better place by bringing in some colour. And that’s exactly what we’re doing through the mediums of Radio and Magazine – being different in a world that seeks to look the same and bringing some colour.
Nobody really wants to stand out!
We all want to blend in and just get on with our lives, in peace. Only, that’s pretty boring when you think about it. And it absolutely isn’t what we’re called to do, especially if you love Jesus Christ and call yourself a Christian.
God has made each and every one of us both on purpose and with purpose. You’ve been hand made by the Master Designer.
I’ve started a global Christian Radio station and a worldwide Magazine.
What will you be able to accomplish, with who God made you to be – and the people God has put in your life?
